NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The North Topsail Beach Board of Aldermen decided to pass along some of the sandbag costs to homeowners at a meeting Wednesday night.
The area needs the super-sized sandbags to prevent beach erosion and save homes.
The board unanimously voted that property owners are partially responsible for the cost.
Property owners at the meeting said it could cause them to lose their homes. The total cost comes to about $65-70,000 within a five year period.
